Tirupati is one of the most visited pilgrimage in India. Sri Venkateshwara temple is one of the most important place of interest here. Sri Venkateshwara is also known as the Lord of Seven Hills, who is famous all over the country.
The shrine is situated on a hill at Tirumala, a cluster of seven hills known as Seshachalam or Venkatachalam with a height of 853m (2,800ft.) above the sea level. This temple is considered as the richest temple in the world.
The Lord of Tirumala is considered as the all-pervading Lord of the Universe. Tirupathi and Tirumala is a pilgrimage town. People on pilgrimage don't drink or eat Meat (non-vegetarian food) including Egg and Fish. Consumption of liquor is prohibited in Tirumala. Smoking is also not allowed in Tirumala.

For Drinking it is advisable to use bottled mineral water only as the water available here might be sour in taste. As mentioned in the later section, the laddu of Tirupati is considered to be "nearly" as famous as the deity himself.


Since Tirupati is a pilgrimage point, shopping complexes or malls offering apparel shopping is unavailable here. But one can shop for traditional commodities like red wooden toys, copper, brass idols of lords which are considered to be sacred and auspicious. Also carved white wood handicrafts can be shopped. A variety of devotional CDs, DVDs etc can also be bought.
Small shopping markets are also set near the Sri Govindrajaswamy temple which are famous for wholesale bangle shops, where bangles, made out of clay are sold.
Allagada: Beautifully carved stone sculptures of Gods and Goddesses are a must buy from this place.
Dornakambala: Craftsmen here create miniature brass castings. Idols of Hindu deities are created best here.
