About Nainital

The scenic hill station of Nainital is one of the most popular tourist resorts of the country. Life here revolves around the Naini Lake - so called because of its eye-like shape. And the city derives its name from the lake. A boat ride in the blue-green lake with hills all around is an enthralling experience. Discovered in 1841 by a British called Lord Barron, the older parts of Nainital still retain their royal Charm. The church of St. John in the Wilderness built in 1846 is a beautiful Gothic structure and one of the earliest colonial buildings. One can trek or go on horseback or by cable car to the vantage points around Nainital that offer a panoramic view of the sparkling sno-capped Himalayan peaks on one side and the plains rolling down on the other. Some of places in nainital are-Bhimtal, Sattal and Naukuchiatal.
