About Kolkata

Kolkata is the capital of the Indian state of West Bengal. It is also the commercial capital of East India, located on the east bank of the Hooghly River. The city of Kolkata has 4.5 million residents, and the metropolitan area, including suburbs, has a population of approximately 15.7 million, making it the third most populous metropolitan area in India and the 13th most populous urban area in the world, when the Company was consolidating its trade business in Bengal. Job Charnock, While the city's name was always pronounced "Kolkata" in the local Bengali language, its official English name was changed from "Calcutta" to "Kolkata" in 2001, reflecting the Bengali pronunciation. Some view this as a move to erase the legacy of British rule.

Eating Out

Street food in Kolkata is probably one of the main reasons why we love the City of Joy so much. From yummy delicacies that will tantalise your taste buds to all the flavours and spices that will cast a spell on your tongue,Macher Jhol is a traditional Bengali marinated fish in curry dish served with steamed rice.Roasted peanuts, puffed rice, crispy chopped onions and juicy tomatoes tossed together in sweet, sour, tangy and spicy sauces (chutneys), Jhalmuri is a variant of the crispy north Indian snack, Bhelpuri.Coming in a cool earthen kulhad (pot), this thick,Crunchy hollow balls filled with sweet. sour, tangy and basically lip smacking flavoured water, every place has its own variant of a Puchka (Gol gappe, if you please) with a different twist to the taste.
