About Bangalore

Bangalore, recently renamed as Bengaluru, is the state capital of Karnataka and one of the most attractive modern cities in India. It has grown into the fifth largest metropolis of India. The city is famous for its beautiful parks, avenues, impressive buildings, heritage centers and excellent shopping.  Bangalore has become an amalgam of modernization and development with a hint of its glorious history. The city has forts and palaces from the 16th century that will give you a clear idea of efficient town planning and splendid architecture observed at the time of some of the earliest dynasties in India. This is demonstrated in the ornately carved Islamic style arches on the gate walls, in the  luxurious palace of Tipu Sultan, Lal Baug with its sprawling greenery and Bungle Rock which stood as a watch tower for the city.
This garden city has several beautifully laid green spaces that  help you take a break and relax in the lap of nature. One can also enjoy the ma

Eating Out

While Bangalore lays out the table with dosas, idlis, bhath and pongal for you, it also has a variety of non vegetarian treats and desserts lined up. The street side shops seem to organise a little dosa fair with kali, paper, roast, benne and ragi dosas to pick from. The Bangalore dosas are to die for ( but do finish your dosa before you die). Like most southern states the secret ingredient in most recipes is coconut and rice but each with its own unique zest. The sambar too is subtly sweet especially when you compare it to the regular Udupi sambar.
The spicy Bisibele Bhath, Rava Idlis, Uppittu (spicier upma) and Pongal are other must try dishes.
Bangalore also has its own set of surprises for the meat lovers. Phall is a hot chicken/meat gravy. If you like spicy food, this is your pick! (caution: carry water, sugar, chocolate and a fire extinguisher!) If that doesn’t work try the jackfruit stall.
The city also has borrowed flavours from Arabian and Hyderab

he city is dotted with shopping areas, big department stores and glistening new malls. Everything from apparel, footwear, jewelry, to traditional silk and sandal wood handicrafts are available in the city making it a shopper's paradise. Apart from the traditional items such as silk fabric and saris, antiques, ivory carvings and handicrafts, trendy designer wear and the high end consumer items, electronic goods, and cars are also part of the Bangalore shopping experience.
The popular shopping areas are in the roads which lie around the central business district.
Hong Kong Market:-This small market has shops selling imported goods. Accessories, perfumes, clothes, electronic goods and footwear, in the market.
M G Road:- Shops stock everything from traditional crafts, to apparel, footwear and curios. Shopping complexes, bookshops, and department stores- all are located on this road.
